Review: The Homelanders Series (Plus Dream Cast!)

*  *  *

I know it's been a while, but I'm finally putting out that review I promised for the Homelanders Series, by Andrew Klavan.  :D  So without further delay, let us begin.

It was GREAT!  XD
But that doesn't really count, does it?  Let me put it a little more... professionally.  ;)  The writing was superb, with thrilling, action-packed sequences, fantastic character development, and a winding, twisting plot.  Suspenseful and energizing, the series had me glued to the pages almost all day long.  I finished the last three books in one day, and that's saying something- seeing as each book is about an inch and half thick.
It is also a Christian series, so not only was there no graphic violence or heavy romance, but there was also good spiritual messages.  It encourages young Christians to stand firm to God's teachings, even when surrounded by a world of sin- and even when you're faced with certain death.
I loved each of the characters.  Charlie, the main character, has great friends.  Miler, Rick, and Josh are all so hilarious, and that on top of being the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
And Beth... dear Beth.  She was great too.  Strong, supportive, loyal, and understanding.  And with a good sense of humor.  :D
But I have to say, Charlie was my favorite.  (Well, him and Sensei Mike... ;)  He's just so funny and... real.  He's the kind of kid I'd love to have as a friend in real life.

But don't let me spoil the whole story for you!  Go and read the books yourself! I heartily recommend them.  Five Stars!

And now for.... my own personal  Homelanders Dream Cast!  XD  If you've read the books already, let me know what you think.  :)

Keep in mind, this is just my opinion, and is by no means an official casting.

Andrew Garfield as Charlie

Allyson Stoner as Beth

Robert Downey Jr as Sensei Mike

Nick Jonas as Josh
Chirs Brochu as Miler

Darren Criss as Rick

Giancarlo Esposito as Detective Rose

David Tennant as Mr. Sherman

  1. The Homelander series was great, I agree. I need to read them again sometime.

Nice work on the dream cast. I haven't read the books incredibly recently, so my opinions might be a little off, but in general, most of them were good. The only one I'm not sure of is the guy you have for Detective Rose.

    1. Thanks! I had a lot of fun doing it. :)

How did you picture as Detective Rose? I had a couple of different people in mind, but Giancarlo Esposito was my first choice. I haven't seen many of his films, only his part in Once Upon A Time, but I can see him playing Detective Rose very well.

Do you have any suggestions? I can always add one to the list! ;)

    2. Sorry. Totally didn't see this until now.

I usually pictured him as kind of the stereotypical detective- kind of a sharper, narrow face, nose a bit on the large side, narrowed eyes, dark hair. Of course, my mind sometimes has a tendency to forget descriptions of people, so I could be totally off from what the book says.

I don't have any suggestions of actual actors, as I barely know any.

    3. That's alright. :)

I get that. Sort of a Sherlock Holmes-ish sort of detective, right? Still... it is rather difficult to find an African-American with those kind of facial features. The book describes him as being black, so I tried to find the best African-American actor I could. :)

(I just realized... I use a lot of smiley faces. I never used to... but now I just do it to portray my mood. *shrug* :)
